Ev 1122

Is there no thread to this one? I found it quite difficult, but now have a full grid, the members of the group and the theme, but am at the grid staring stage, looking for the 12 connecting cells. Anybody any suggestions?

Must make a comment on EV 1121, "extremely affable", however. How unlikely is the following? I had one letter only of the phrase and was looking up a small word which proved to have no bearing on the clue I was trying to solve ...BUT scanning down a huge almost two column entry in the brb, the words "extremely affable" leapt out at me, and there was the required phrase almost before I'd got started on it.

Hello Christina & Copelander, how great to see you both on the thread again, been very lacking in N & C lately. You will probably find Cheshire less chilly than Lincs C, which bit? One of my favourite Counties and the only place to buy proper Cheshire Cheese.
Never did work out the connection between 1121's changed entries and their answers.....................however got it finished! Unlike you Copelander, am struggling with all parts of 1122 and have yet to have an inkling of any connections anywhere, will plod on.

Hi DD, no I didn't discover the link between the real answers and the entries, either. We're hoping to move to a village on the Altrincham side of Greater Manchester- Lymm, Cuddington, Tarvin, Tarporley, but are also considering the other side - Marple, Romiley. We want rural but with good transport links and preferably a few shops (completely out in the sticks here)
As a futher nudge: The second word is apostrophised, the first 2 words (12 letters) appear in the grid; the third word suggests a well-worn cryptic device for entry, while the 4th (look it up in the BRB) gives the shape they form. If you have the group then the title is their original claim to fame; the third and forth words don't appear explicity (also 12 letters; 6+6).
