Assuming that OXALIS and ON A PAR are correct, I am having trouble fitting the last two (VARESE;ZINNIA) in! Any help welcome.

Both are correct.
Zinnia crosses with oxalis, hemp agrimony and elaps (middle right); on a par's crosses are Frome, jacobs ladder and Varese (middle left)

The Guardian today is an Alphabetical Puzzle, I think I have all the clue solutions. The grid is fixed by the two 12 letter solutions(JACOBS LADDER:HEMP AGRIMONY), so my query stands - to anyone not wishing to take a cheap shot.

I actually enjoy doing crosswords and I also enjoy reading and occasionally participating in a fe AB topics. However, I found the tone of this thread a bit stroppy and "points scoring", even from time to time bordering on the aggressive.
