Not as daunting as it looks initially. My Bradfords was useful for working the definitions backwards!

I'm not really a fan of this type of puzzle - especially the long
preambles, but, as Ros said, it is not as difficult as it looked.
Without Anne Bradford at my side I’d not have travelled very far down this particular road. Despite her help, though, 19D still defeats me…

Hankir I'm somewhat confused as I'm pretty certain the 4th letter of 38a is an 'e'. Can you enlighten me on 19d. Thanks
It's still a jumble (anagram), Farrwest ,of the letters (reatehea) in the clue but no extra letter for the quote . Your E is correct .
