The clue is "Live-in worker is in to food and booze, might you say? (2,4)". I'm pretty sure the answer is "au pair", but why, please? Or if not, "au pair", what and why, please?

Au pair - an "O pair" (said) is in both '(f)oo(d) & (b)oo(ze)'
Food and booze both have a pair of o's in them
