Hi all

Anyone tackling this ? What a ??? of a puzzle ! I have just over half the answers and have worked out that there must be two 13-letter solutions forming a central cross in the grid. I'm struggling with some of the L set of clues. These must all start in column A. Help please with:
"Ligaments requiring ingestion of recipe - sprouts ?"
"Light spinning round before Greek god"
"Like precision, receiving special food for breakfast"
"Lip cut- and throat ? Just part of lip""

Sorry, no solution lengths are given. Thanks !

The ligaments one is TENDRONS.

Thanks Voulez-vous ! I'll struggle on....
ligula is part of lip
toast breakfast

It's a beast - about 75% done

Thanks x_word_fan ! Yes, to a t with s....so obvious but hard when you have no idea of word length or letters.

I keep taking breaks from this as it's certainly one of those you need to persevere with !
Greek god is Nereus.
It is a grind, and if I've got it right, the final step is a groan. If you've got the two long answers (13 letters) then knowing the "Lawn" answer and the "Legislators" will fix the two long ones. One, perhaps not very helpful hint; the "B" answers go in the final column are of lengths 4 and 12.
sorry 4 and 8, oops!

Thank you Boreas and Stymied.

Haven't really had time to give this a good go since yesterday so am I right in assuming the two long (13-letter) answers form a central cross in the grid ? (If not the 90 degree symmetry means there must be four long answers) I currently have the "Lawn"answer in the 4th from bottom row starting in first column, and the "Legislators" answer in the 5th row from the top. Are these correct please ?
Lawn ans. is correct (1st col. of course); the legislators run vertically from top row.

Thanks v.much Stymied, that's a big help.
Head of union etc???????
Head of union is obvious; put into blissful state is elate - should be able to take it from there.
Hint on the Local little ... clue: local little is lyte, as usual even is ene, put these together appropriately with the other obvious letter for a gas.
Thanks stymied.
Actually harder than last week's Listener (also by phi) - very hard but very satisfying ...

Thanks phi.
I was about to answer Gregsdad when I saw it was already done! Loved and hated this one in equal measure! I am now nearly done, having solved the columns and the missing words but I'm totally stuck on 2 clues:
Mere functionary in hospital is a buffoon. (M?cog?n) unless I've gone wrong somewhere.
Government avoiding morass finally earned space in newspapers.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Oops - I meant missing WORD singular!
Indy - I think you have a slip-up somewhere - a hospital is definitely a San, not a Man.

It's hard to give a hint on the other one - the definition is in Chambers under the four letter answer with 'rat' on the end.
Thank you Sunny-Dave for the answer starting with Q. Now just one to find! Am puzzled though as I was sure the third letter of my central 13 letter across answer was M. Is there another word that works with that anagram (seer, sly & morsel)?
Ah - I see your error - the missing word is 6 not 7 letters - starting below the M :

.cog.n
