Don't get it - 10 across - thrill of sudden course change bearing north ?I?G - have gone through all the four letter words ending in ING but cannot figure it out - must be unusually thick today - assistance please!

(from the clue, 'sudden' should be included in the first part)

Ah, that explains it - I have always thought it to be the one word - one thing about crosswords they certainly increase my knowledge
