Thanks all, now I can concentrate on the rugby!
Haveen't come across this setter in the i before - Saturday is usually set by PHI or DAC, two of the best setters. Some pretty dodgy clues, I thought, particularly: "Male chauvinists lust after getting stripped". The answer is LECH (hidden in maLE CHauvinists), but the definition part of the clue - lust - is in the middle, not at the beginning or the end, where convention says that it should be!
You may I suppose describe a 'Male Chauvinist' as a Lech too ( short for lecher)?

I agree not too good though.
But then it wouldn't be 'chauvinists' in the plural. I think the other two good setters in the i are Quixote and Virgilius, who often does themed puzzles. I least like ANAX (who is Dean Mayer, setter for the Sunday times, and source of many many requests for help on the Answerbank!), and PUNK, who sets as Paul for the Guardian
Yes a poor stab in the dark from me.

I don't do the i,but Times and Guardian yes - every now and then rogue clues appear I guess
