23d AGM...s?
Question Author
I thought of that but it does not fit in with 27 across disease to disfigurel old actor at first for which I have ACROMAGELY and which fits in with 21, 16 and 20 down - any ideas?
Acromegaly ?
Question Author
Have just realised that 20 down is plural so should end in I not E so 27 across is wrong and AGMS is right 27 across now reads ?C??A?I?S- any ideas?
Is it 9 or 10?
Question Author
Sorry, should be 10 - 3 blanks after the C not 2!!!
Are you getting anywhere with this, jo?
Well...scarlatina is a disease...
Agma is the phonetic symbol for ng..final sound of swearing/shouting
Question Author
If that is right can you have AGMA as opposed to AGMS?
Scar = disfigure, but can't parse latina
scar...disfigure
old actor....?
I think jo has cracked it, mra. Too difficult for me. :-)
..I'm hoping Mamya, Maj or Bibb can help...
Sat looking in and eating dins and can't see it Jo.
*speech sound, not symbol
Question Author
Realised after your contributions that it is AGMA - sound of sweari(ng) & shouti(ng) Scarlatina is therefore correct and now leaves me with ?A?B?R for 21 down - not having much luck there either!!! Thanks very much everyone!
Question Author
got it (I think) JAMBER? (a leg greave in armour) Get the predicament (Jam) but not the stand bit!
Bear - stand minus a
Bear = stand, 'shedding a' - lose the 'a', so 'ber'.
