17d. Service, say, includes 6 but excludes 1 -U---O-G.
(I'm not 100% sure my 'U' is correct!)
- I've got GAME as the answer to 6, and LOCATE as the answer to 1 (if those are what the clue is referring to)

Any ideas gratefully received!!

Many thanks folks - I did wonder if my 'FOUR' should've been a 'FIVE', and now I know!!
Can someone explain how this parses? Definition = service = evensong I got; now 6 is an even number and 1 isn't but I can't see where "ong" comes from. I looked at "say" = "eg" as 1st and last letters (ie. includes)but that leaves "venson" so I don't think that's relevant. Thanks in advance.
venison is game/meat so remove the I from that
Evensong - 'eg' (say, includes) 'ven(i)son' (game [6d], less 'i' [one])
Doh - thanks a lot - good clue. How I considered "venson" as included in "eg" but didn't see game with no I is troubling. ;)
