Struggling rather with this! No idea where the quote comes from?
Some answers are entered with one or more cells left blank. Numbers in brackets refer to the lengths of entries in the final grid, all of which are real words or proper nouns

11a It contains the limits of huge tree (7) letters possibly...S????OR
31a Cornwall's first outcast's short old-fashioned name (6).... C??PE?
14a Sweeyheart - Oswald's first and up the spout (4)??O?

Hello Pomona
No idea what is going on, Mr O always confounds me, I have only done about 10 clues and have absolutely no suggestion of a PDM. There used to be a great chatty/helpful/hint worthy site here, just don't know where everyone has gone but it has left me floundering big-time. All got very boring and I am sorry I cannot throw even the slightest hint for you......all the clever-cloggsis have abandoned ship!

Regards

assuming the quote is from King Lear as lots mentioned in the clues......will persevere a bit longer
Hello Pomona and Devadolly,

I jumped ship purely because the threads weren't N&Cy! I refuse however to be classified as a clever-cloggsis!

Here are hints for 11a, 31a and 14a!

11a, this is a 4 letter answer to the clue, so 3 blank cells. Bradfords lists a 2 letter word for "it"! Surround that with the first and last letters of huge and there is your tree. The last 3 lights are the blank ones.

31a, C is definitely Cornwall's first. Bradford's also gives a 5 letter word meaning "outcast", if you were one you were obliged to shield your face and
ring a bell! You need to shorten that word to get the answer to the clue, there is a blank light in the grid.

14a, is normal, O is Oswald's first, then take up the spout as being an anagram indicator!

There are numerous indications of where the Quotation is taken from, 1a, 13a, 10d to name but 3! You will also need to look at the grid as a bit of a jigsaw, and once you see where the blank lights appear you will be helped! Took me a while to see that, the title as always is useful.

Sorry, but as Devadolly knows I don't do straight answers, just hints. As soon as I saw the Setter I heard a moan of "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH NOOOO" from the North West! Time to pour another Ozzy red! Off on holiday on sunday!

Thanks DocHH, grid now looking slightly fuller. Will have another look tomorrow.
I haven't so much jumped ship as just run out of energy to tackle more than one themed cryptic a week, and the Listener is currently my choice. I do look at the EVs but at the moment, sadly, it's more of a token gesture to do so. Hopefully I'll get back the energy one day to get back into it!
Oh good.....a bit of a thread! Thanks for the quote hint Pomona. Agree Doc used to enjoy the N & C and also the test of compiling a hint without giving the game away. There w indeed a howl of anguish as I opened the paper but will persevere from your hints. A bit of N & C'ing for you.....Ginger Mog has been in full ratting mode but has met a match and got a hefty rat bite on his right 'arm' which has swollen to the size of a golf ball and will not head. We have to admit defeat (we can usually deal with cat abscesses quite efficiently with Hydrogen P to clean them) and he's off to the vet later this am. He is very sorry for himself curled up in the washing basket.
Hello DevaDolly - after several days hard slog I have finally finished, so if you need any more help/hints.........
There is a thread on Crossword Forum with some help/hints too!
Hello Roslyn and Jim360. Many thanks for all the hints will have a look later. Poor Ginger Mog won't be too helpful, he is flaked out on his fleece. The abscess was heading inwards and he had to have it cut, drained and washed out + anti-b's so there is a very bare and blood stained 'arm' but at least he has been demanding food again!
Sorry to hear about Ginger Mog, perhaps he might now decide that he should be taking life a little easier! Do you have a younger model for Ginger Mog to train?
With a bit of license in interpretation, I reckon there are at least 15 references to the source of the quotation. I must admit I found Bradford's very helpful, but then again, it always is!
It has been glorious here on the South Coast, sunny and 24°C and I have had to mow lawns, rather than relax!
Just to let you know, Ginger Mog has recovered really well, within 12 hours actually, the anti-B injection sorted him out and the 'arm is now fully back to normal if a little bare of fur. My brain hasn't improved sadly and I am still struggling along manfully (I suppose that should be womanly!)
Come on Devadolly! The title of the puzzle is linked to one of the most famous quotes from the play. Think what revolves. The quote is in a relevant form.
There are so many Novalis, my favourite is "Out, vile jelly, where is thy lustre now?" Quite on an equal to the Tempest's stage direction " Exit stage left (or is it right?) pursued by bear!" Will plod on in tandem with this week's offering.
Wheelie Devadolly.
It must be a new trendy NT version of the play........done on roller-skates perhaps??
Yes DD and it would come back to its starting point.
