I have this as CURBED but I have seen it answered in Another Place as TURBID. Can see how mine fits but not the other !

Remember definitions are either at the start or end of a clue - 'Curbed' = curtailed is in the middle.
I am often wrong trust me on both those statements.

Oh dear, I may go into hiding.
There is an occasional exception to the rule about definitions being at the start or end of a clue e.g where you have to make an anagram of the answer which is a synonym of the defining word in the middle of the clue combined with the word play at one end of the clue to make an answer to the word play at the other end. Bet that's as clear as mud.

Bibble is right of course, the rule I referred to is the general norm - as ever there are exceptions.
