20a they are initially thought to come from outer space (4) initially they would be c.f.o.s who are admittedly alien to all that is good but shouldn't the clue be ... to unfold from outer space? or to uglify outer space?

I think it just means that UFOs are usually known by their initials rather than Unidentifed flying objects.

i think the trick is that we replace "come from" with "usher from" setting a new paradigm: synonym-ize then operate. it was one of the cruelest circles Dante visited.
