Another entertaining puzzle, with nice treatment of the thematic elements. Nothing too challenging, but the extra words were quite smoothly integrated into the clues. I must do some checking, to see whether there's a particular anniversary. Many thanks, Tramp.

Yes - I really enjoyed this. Plenty of elements that made me smile. Thanks, Tramp. Hope everyone who gathers here has a nice weekend.
Thank you indeed, Tramp. We ended with a smile.
Very pleasant debut that had me scratching my head once or twice. Thanks Tramp.
The clues were easy but entertaining.
No Z-cup this week.

Oh, upsetter, you disappoint me. If we only get lukewarm responses we'll have to put the Z cup back outside to act as a rain gauge.

I'd missed the fact that this was a debut. The occasional skirmish with the Grauniad had established Tramp in my mind as an active setter (hot dog?). Are they one and the same?
I, too, hadn't realized that Tramp was a Listener Rookie. Welcome, Tramp.
Thank you Wikipedia!

I am completely unfamiliar with the narrator. When much to my surprise, I found the narrator's name in a Wikipedia article on a text that I suspected to be relevant, I was able to enjoy the hugely entertaining conclusion.
AHearer - the response was not intended to be lukewarm.
This was a very elegant composition, where the denouement was there to entertain, rather than add to the difficulty. We were trying to make the point that these were quality clues that were enjoyable to solve, in contrast to last week.
An excellent introductory Listener and thanks to Tramp.
I'll add my voice to general approbation. This was great fun with a neat treatment of the thematic material and, as Upsetter says, the final stages were there to provide enjoyment rather than to create obstacles. Good clues too. Congratulations on an excellent debut, Tramp!
A delightful puzzle. Not much to add to what's already been said, but I enjoyed the witty title.
An excellent debut. I found some of the clues quite tricky despite what others have said, but it was scrupulously fair and joy of joys no ambiguity at all in the required highlighting or delineating. I recollected the narrator's work but too late on to be of much help. Thanks Tramp.
Hi AHearer,

Ive not been on this site for several years.
Ive started tackling the Listener once more and am glad to have beaten the last handful, bar Sabre of course. Tramp seems on the more approachable side of things thats for sure. Enjoying it so far, about 20 minutes in... :)

This was fun, but did anyone else go off on a tangent on 21d, like we did, where there is a very plausible but almost totally wrong alternative answer?
Didn't fall down that rabbit Hole! But did have the wrong Welsh girl in 8d! Which held me up. A great puzzle and looking forward to more from Tramp.
Nice puzzle and impressive grid - thanks Tramp!
@whenland: Agreed that 21D has two perfectly reasonable answers. Fortunately for me, I didn't understand the wordplay for either of them until I had enough across letters to tell me which one it was.

Apologies, upsetter, for misrepresenting your response. I agree with what you say in both your postings.
Excellent enjoyable debut.
