25a With wings wrapping Vermont volume does it (10) ALLITERATE OK, so "Vermont volume" is alliteration, but what about "With wings wrapping"? Is it just 2 examples of alliteration, and the actual words are all irrelevant (other than their starting letters)?

Hah - that was much cleverer than I. But even though I biffed this clue, I did finish this Times Xword without any cheats. OK, so it took about 3 hours...
Doesn't matter how long you take, well done.

Thank you Lynne - I'm always a little bit chuffed when I finish it (and a little disappointed when I don't). And nowadays I get the Times free when I shop at Waitrose (and I don't bother much with the actual paper - probably because I'm spending all those hours on the Xword!)
