Listener No 4439: Where Falls The Axe By Hedge-Sparrow
17 Answers
Another delightfully crafted puzzle by Hedge-sparrow. It wasn't until I had the theme that I could fill the outline of the top left corner and thereby start to fill what was up to then a blank space. Enjoyable end-game, and I'm pretty well with Hedge-sparrow on the matter. Many thanks, Hedge-sparrow, I really enjoyed that.

I appreciated the neat and unambiguous endgame, especially as no grid staring was involved. I'm not sure about how much setters' personal opinions (even if I agree with them) should contribute to a theme, but this was nicely handled so fair play.
I'd still prefer a smaller font on AB so we can see more posts on a page...

Unlike others I had little problem with the NW corner apart from one entry; it was the SW corner that was the last to be completed in my case. Nobody's commented on the clues - a very good set with smooth surfaces. Decent clues should be at the heart of any puzzle, requiring an investment of time and effort on the part of the setter, which Hedge-sparrow is always prepared give.
