Well, I have just eagerly opened the paper and guess what? My heart sank! An alphabetical!

I despair. I can't ever do these. I have worked out a couple of answers but there's no help anywhere, 'cos you can't put them in the grid.

At the moment, I have a piece of A4 paper with the letters of the alphabet written down the side and have answers for four clues.
Shall I just keep going with the clues?

Any help on offer, please. I really would like to give this a go.

Tilly, why can't you fit them in the grid?
Question Author
Danny, if I have a three letter answer, there are two three letter lights and I don't know which one to put the answer in. (for example)
I don't ever do The Guardian - never liked it, but here is the grid with instructions on what today's is about (click the PDF if you want to see it all)

Capt, I have the paper here beside me. Thank you anyway. :-)
Tilly, Only thing I can suggest is to post some clues until you have enough to start filling the grid.Is there a clue that is the only one with a certain amount of letters?
It is even worse for me Tilly trying to do it online. It is a lrger crossword thn normal and therefore to fit in the font is smaller and I can't read it. It also does not zoom up so that I can see it.

Therefore, I can't even start it!
Tilly, that was for Danny's, and any others, benefit, to see if he could help. :)))
Question Author
Can't you print it out, JJ?

Danny this might help as one of them is a thematic clue.

D Holiday area in France and Germany. (5)
D Vague Greenlander turning tail, close to decrease (10)
Question Author
Sorry, Capt! I'm being doubly thick today. :-)
I was driven to distraction until I suspected one of the themes, then I was motoring along.
But be careful with exact wording of

D Holiday area FROM in France and Germany (5)

Hope that helps
That helps Mel - got that one now.
Question Author
Thank you for that correction, Mel. Very remiss of me. :-(
No problem.
Question Author
Still struggling.
Tilly - first part of the clue (D1) , you don't need a passport to holiday here.

The break down the second part.
^ Then...
Question Author
Makes of cars? Is that the theme. I have Rover.
Makes/Models , yes.
Question Author
