Is this the "official" thread? A Listener is very easy if a duffer like me has finished this halfway through a Mozart piano concerto - but I'll echo A Hearer's positive comments: I've learned something new, and I've a lot to do this weekend so I was glad of a quick solve. Thanks Calmac.
Hard to know quite what to say. I'm not going to complain at all, as Calmac is a true gentleman of impeccable courtesy whose puzzles are always scrupulously fair, gently educational and carefully thought out (the surface simplicity of a clue like 25, for example, is both elegant and neat). Fair enough, it took me only 25 minutes too, but we can't have - and shouldn't wish for - a golden hare or a brick wall every week.
My experience seems to have been a little different to everyone else's - not a PB for me, though obviously very much at the easier end of the scale. The theme was new, and I enjoyed some neat if not too tricky clues.
For anyone wanting a further challenge, this month's Magpie has some crackers - particularly (imho) the Artix puzzle.
Personal Best time for solving. It is not competitive, but this was easily my fastest Listener solve ever, and I feel vaguely deprived of my weekend brain stimulus.
Thanks, should have worked that out for myself. Duh.
I don't time myself either but I think this is the quickest I've ever solved a Listener, the only other that comes close being the Tour de France puzzle. Not that I'm complaining, mind.
