Last answer in today's crossword which I'm not able to fully parse:
23D Nearly finished before onset of spring season (4)
I have P?S? and believe answer is Nearly finished = PAS(t) + onset of S(pring) = PASS but this doesn't take season into account?

I, too, have 'pass'. Perhaps in the sense of season ticket? Anyone have any other ideas?

Struggling here too; I know you've put '1055' but what date is the publication, I'll see if I can have a rummage

It's dated 13th May Captain, only arrived this morning.
I reckon you may have hit the nail on the head Kerrymar.
Thanks for both your replies.
'season' and 'pass' both mean "a period of time", as in "It must be the silly season" and "In needs to to run its pass"
^^^ 'It' not 'In'!
