Ah very good fiction factory.
So 13a ...Holy Moses! What's that on your head? (4) ? A ? ?.
Is not hats as seen in clue.?
It's an up and under.
But I have just realised it is also the name of a rugby team in Limerick
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garryowen_Football_Club
It's in the Munster union whatever that means
Gary Owen was a footballer in the 1970s/1980s

Halo
I knew, in the back of my mind that Gary Owen was a person. I just thought he was Welsh.

Super, thank you all.
Well, that was an inventive way of getting around the swear filter - was it not?!
I don't understand that response, Choux.
I think it's clear Shenco had a letter wrong rather than trying to type a rude word but it does look comical.
Oh! Got it now! :-)
Instead of

?A?R?S?E?

?A?R?O?E?
Cabriolet!
Can you parse that for me.
Errrr, No. :-(
We'll stick with Garryowen then.
Question Author
I am completely innocent of said charge your honour :-)
Now then, where's my HALO.
In fact that was the 'o' i should have had (in halO ) instead of the 'S' in HATS which was contained in the clue :-( Ah well. Btw, I hadn't come accross the word 'parse' before, the dictionary says 'analyze', Is it used in AB to mean 'explain' ?
Just a fancy way of saying 'how a clue works'.

Parse

resolve (a sentence) into its component parts and describe their syntactic roles.
