I found this really tough but I am nearly there. I MUST finish because His Nibs is taking me out tonight. Yesterday was a No Go day as I have NO interest in the World Cup and, to put it simply, he does. Because England won (wow that was a surprise) he's a Happy Boy so he wants us to go for a drink. SWMBO has approved on the new terms.
But I have one clue I don't get.
Assume uniform link. It's two words 4,2
Because of the letters I have, "join up" fits. But why?

If you 'assume uniform', you could have enlisted in the services (Army, Navy etc) so it's Join Up. And Join Up also means 'Link'.

I am sorry newgirlonthebloc that I have upset you. The adults who replied have been really kind and encouraging to me since I started doing crosswords. I just let them know a little bit about me beyond the puzzles. Unless they tell me to stop I will take advantage of their kindness.
BTW I had a great time with His Nibs last night.

Sorry dannyk13, I only just saw your message. I am really grateful to you and the others who have always been so supportive of me when I needed it (usually with crossword clues but not always). It is great that you all go the extra mile as they say. Not just for me either.
