First, may I thank those who helped me with my critic last week. It really helped me!
relaxed day so far. His Nibs has a family commitment until about now so I expect him soon. Then he's taking me out. SWMBO is fussing about her flowers and the lack of rain.....

Could I ask for an explanation first please?
"Ends concealed when two ministers get together?"
The answer, I am confident, is termini. And that meets "ends" . But where does two come into it? And while mini seems to be part of the solution, I don't get it in fact.

The other help I need is to choose between two greek letters. phi or psi
The clue is "character from 25 [which is Odyssey I think]perhaps a long way from base" . But which letter meets the rest of the clue?

I just looked up :i.e.-in King's explanation. All I can say is WOW!! and thank you Mamylynne. Clever.
I don't think that I'd have worked out either answer. (No . I know!)
But I am glad that my suggestions were right

It sure was! Actually, I found the whole crossword quite difficult. SWMBO helped me out with the flower. She's an expert on them! Is it cheating to ask your mother to use her knowledge of the garden. I hope not.

That last response was, of course, to Neveracrossword. Thanks for the advice Mamyalynne. I don't have much option really. His Nibs takes VERY seriously his responsibility to SWMBO for my welfare....

But we did have a great time. He only allows me 2 pints. But I can make the most of it.
I am still marveling at the phi answer and Lie-in King's explanation. Tbh chemistry wasn't my best subject but I still find it quite a thrill to see such clever play on words and concepts. I don't think I shall ever be bored with crosswords when clues like that appear.
Soon be bath time.
