I had seen an earlier set of questions so I assumed helpers are familiar with the theme.

Some clues have just word play.
22d is unclued.
Sometimes the preamble is hard to describe in a sentence or two.

The first letter in 22 is VERY significant, revealing . Just look at the thematic answers you have and see what could link them - the coat hangers, the nine-letter across answer near the top (I've no longer got my copy)...
