Thank you all ... a great help!
If I'd known I'd need two bites at it I'd have done the same neveracrossword (and I still missed a capital C!).
EV a day early? It ain't last week's, is it?

Still struggling with this week's easy (cluewise) Listener. Full grid. Got the theme. Can't do the deciphering bit.

Does a bottle of Bacardi help?

Yes.

And no.
Thanks for adding Colloque, PM - I'd misread my own handwriting!
VE - EV is always a Sunday!
3dn is COLLOQUEY saladdodger
I'm having the same problem neveracrossword - COLLY is the 'smut' around O/QUE (i think).
vetuste-ennemi - the Bacardi might affect your ability to count the letters in the text - it's an interesting sum for a 13x13 grid.
...and I'm still having problems with 3dn!!!!!
COLLOQUY (COLLY around O[ld] QU[een]).
And that's my last word on it.
But mind what letters you choose for the endghame saladdodger.
Thanks, PM, you got there in the end - and I've fixed my error. I assume 'colly' is the word referred to in the preamble, being in the OED.
I've started celebrating a bit early neveracrossword.
Colly is in Chambers, I'm wondering about the ODE entry myself (thought it might be another meaning for 'razz' because that gives 'jeer' not 'cheer' in Chambers).
Stuck on
15a Residential classification: ten baths in a new complex (5) I have ACORN but can't parse it
17a Dukes' home , revolutionary had not lost Bronx cheer (4) ?A??
