Just in from work so only just seen this. Does seem puzzling re the answer really needs to be plural with that wording. Can't find 'your' clue anywhere but I can find a very similar clue which makes more sense ie singular answer, viz

He's no witch doctor though he reads the signs (13)

Any help?

Wonder if the setter thought he had 14 lights to fill , so just made this old clue plural - without checking? :))))
