18a Getting on? That’s not about getting on (6) I just cannot decide between EGGING and AGEING as I cannot justify either in both pats of the clue. Any guidance gratefully received.

I would go with ageing- not about getting on could refer to not boarding a vehicle etc.

I think it's Agreeing, getting on - then remove the 're', ('not about'), for Ageing, getting on, older.

Seems a bit clumsy doesn't it.
I wondered about IE for that's (that is), then reversed (about) but that leaves GANG (Scottish for going?)- but that doesn't work
