Case that maybe looked into (5) I have C?a?e. My possible answers are crate, cease, or chase all of which I can make a case for but none of which convinces! Hope someone has the answer.

i'd go for crate but it's a weak clue

You can look into a crate which usually has openings in the sides and no lid.As AEL says it it is a poor lue.

Are you sure that the A is right? A case that might be looked into could be a crime.
