Michel Ney fought in the French revolutionary war.
With respect to Mamya, I didn't think M. Ney was involved & had -

Hackneyed - 'hackney' (horse) + 'de' (Fr. "of", revolutionary; back)
I thought he deserved a spin out, he doesn't get mentioned much lately :-)

Happy to be put straight.
Not at all Mamya, it's only my opinion of the parse & you're right, he's been quiet of late :-)
