Trying to remember a crossword clue from sometime back.
The clue included the terms 'tarts', ''bloomers', 'age', and the answer was a three-letter-word, (3), EON.
I know I'm working backwards here, any help is very much appreciated.

Removing 'pies' from pEONies would get you EON, so something like 'Age of bloomers tarts shed' ?

Brilliant. Thank you both. It was my last clue, saw 'age', the pattern was E-N, so, um, I put in O for EON.
Sent it off, (this week's Phoenix Cryptic Prize Crossword in Ireland). Thank you ever so much. Brilliant. Delighted now.
