This is a tough one, with clashes creating another level of complexity.
5. Slip could be frightening after time (5)
11/15. Beth’s precursor advanced into one group of jellyfish (9)
16/1. Detective and cook exchanging starters for more controversial fare (9)
I have the answers to 1, 1/5 and 5/9, but no idea how to enter them.
Need some help there.
...at least the usual round of letter-counting is more straightforward this time, and it's easy to keep track of the characters if you know them (the endgame is very tedious but it works quite well this time).
There are a couple of wilfully obscure clues (considering so many have to be cold solved) eg 7/11 is a character from Coriolanus - and the anagram doesn't help much if you don't know that.
I'm enjoying my Christmas stash of goodies a little late, but it's time I called it a day!
Best Wishes, hankir (and good luck with the puzzle).
No 'm', hankir - anag (a)USTRALI(a) and it's entered Rtius/lA, but there's a clash with the R [the clash = 'c', which is removed after using c=3 for the required move].
I'm a vegetarian when it comes to restaurant meals - animal welfare isn't a concern with most restaurants (and even meat eaters care about animal welfare - although I can see why it might appear otherwise).
..yes , once again i misunderstood the preamble ...wondered why they didn't fit....forgot that they started/ended on pink! (more orange than pink on my grid though)
