25 Across.... Can't stand around outside Nancy's posh residence(7) C?A?E?U.
Answer must be CHATEAU... posh residence in France (Nancy)??!! ... but the rest is beyond me.
I can see 'hate' (can't stand). Please parse...its been bugging me since Saturday!!

I have seen discussion on this. I think it's supposed to be Hate, can't stand, Ca, around/circa and the U is 'Nancy's posh', from Nancy Mitford's famous U and non-U stuff, posh and not posh. Residence, chateau.
