Good day,
I’ve traced one of the film stars and the comment made.
I suspect who the other one is, but it’s not falling into place
yet.
A verification for the following, please!
1(D) Possibly a Maltese maligner’s confession (8): ISLANDER
2(D) Major vessel capsized in anchorage with no depth (5): AORTA
21(A) Bow before Macron (4): ARCH

There seems to be a plethora of extraneous words here that Pabulum enjoys
trapping us with.
I’ve been staring at this for sometime now.A nudge for the following should see me through, thanks in advance!

3(D) Harmonite sprayed not one fungicide (6): ???R??
4(D) Hero caught killer (4) : ???A ( ORCA)?
7(D) Flowers formerly close to Indian city (6): ?R??R?

It'd be good to tell the helpful ABers about the scrambling involved in the extra words! Your batch of clues yesterday must have been very tricky for those without the puzzle.
You've mistakes in 21 A and 7 D.
islander aorta arch ...all correct
3d harmonite minus one anagrammed gives you a fungicide
orca yes
7d your R is wrong...on = close + 4 letter indian city (tah majal...)
sorry 21a should be arco not arch.....arco as in bow of violin...

Thanks, Roslyn, for the very clear hints! Thanks also, NACW, I'll
be more specific in this regard!
Those weren't hints, David, they were mighty great shoves. But then, that's really what you were wishing for, isn't it.
Thanks, Matakari. I know you're very keen to be helped, but it seems to be a fairly common 'oversight' to miss out crucial stuff! I see the puzzle so I always know what's going on, some other ABers, who regularly help you, don't.

Many thanks, NACW!
Can I butt in here and ask for help?
34a Spit seeped out (4)E?EE must be EPEE but why?
41d Skene piercing skin (4) K?EN must be KEEN but why?
11a Watt once sounded clearly ill (5) ?RONG probably WRONG but why?
A 'spit' (slang) is a sword .
41 is a 'special' def/anagram clue.
'Watt' = W + 'rong' = archaic for 'rang' ('sounded clearly') def 'ill' = WRONG.
...34 is another 'special' clue.
Thanks Professor
