I've never put cushions on my bed. Just two pillows.
Dunno but thankfully she's over it now.

I hated the hundred pillows and cushions period.

No,they end up on the floor when you go to bed and who sees them anyway?
Question Author
Maybe they're called scatter or throw cushions for a reason. If I come across them I never know what to do with them so scatter them on the floor!
no idea, have never used them and never will
Some hotels (mainly in the US) have 5 ft long tubular cushions on the beds. First thing you do when you get to your room is throw them on the floor.
And what is an occasional table when it's not being a table?
Something to put a smelly candle on;0)
But then it's still a table but with a smelly candle on top. How can a table decide to be a table only on occasion?...Mind-boggling isn't it?
I know, they are just for show and have only really seen them in hotels etc when they just get thrown on the floor, same as those runners that go along the bottom of the bed.
Apparently . . .

"There is no doubt that decorative throw cushions are essential in increasing the aesthetics of a room. They add colour, character, texture and make a bed look stylish, cosy and inviting.

A bed without cushions can look empty and uninviting . . . "

However that then leads to the problem of where one puts all those pillows when one actually wants to get into it!

My own attitude is that the only thing that makes a bed look "cosy and inviting" is one of these: https://tinyurl.com/4d2zenmf

;-)
It's a woman thing.

I've given up trying to understand it, but it's best to just accept it.
I have them on our bed. Not particularly for decoration though. I put them beside the bed when I go to bed. I often wake in the night with bad dreams and feel the need to sit up for a while and drink water to calm down. And if I rest during the day I would rather rest on the bed with cushions then on a chair or sofa. I need cushions for comfort and to be comfortable and ease pain. The dog likes them too!
Sometimes I've had a cushion on the bed as extra support when I'm sitting in bed. If it's pretty, I'll leave it on.
Other than that...no.
The runner at the bottom of the bed serves no purpose...it won't even keep your feet warm.

We house sat for a relative before lockdown, and there were four pillows on the bed, fair enough, six cushions in decending sizes, and a runner thingy across the foot of the bed. Effort wasted on me.
I've put away at least a dozen this week, will reintroduce them gradually.
Haha Chris...Cleo has turned into a proper furry hot water bottle.
We have a V shaped bolsters that you can put behind your head if you want to sit up, but always end up on floor, when it's sleep time.
We have a light weight fleece at the end of the bed, simply because the dog or one of the cats join us and I don't want them sleeping on the duvet cover. But I make sure the fleece matches the duvet! I love our bedroom, its my retreat and I spend a lot of time in there.
I love cushions on a bed. Probably because I like making funky cushions from left over fabric and bling and they have to go somewhere when I've made them.

Dave hates cushions on a bed. He watched a Dave Gorman programme where Gorman said putting cushions on a bed is about as sensible as putting top hats on the lid of the toilet seat.
On my next trip to the loo I found a very tall pile of hats on the toilet seat... :-(
