With a complete grid, I have found the honoree provided by the extra words (7 letters).

I don't know which clue has the misprint that provides the middle letter of the region.

Also I have 5 words from the extra letters.

How do I find the the other three characters?

It seems the 5 letters of the region have to be used for 18a, 30a, 40a and 29d.
