1.So poor mum feels sorry, all finally lost. Ans remorseful (feels sorry). I thought the answer was almost always at the start or end of the clue -maybe this is an exception. Whatever, I can't see how it works.
2. Slope off around four to write a letter . Ans plosive (anagram slope around iv) . Had never heard of it but a dictionary says "Of, relating to, or being a speech sound produced by complete closure of the oral passage and subsequent release accompanied by a burst of air, as in the sound (p) in pit or (d) in dog." . Can't see how that writes a letter -forms perhaps but not writes.
3. Rook found in an old European river . Ans Arno (Tuscan river) . Rook is r but can't find any support for ano being an old European.
