I have completed the puzzle with 22 cells highlighted.

There is an extra letter in wordplay.

Question on 8d. The answer seems to be the Bear constellation. How?
Qustion on 21a. Is game used as an anagrind?

8 'original' = UR (the original city) + SA(r) is the Scots for 'savour' [extra 'r'].
21 'game'/lame is the anagram indicator for 'in s[h]orter' with [h] extra.

I had the correct answers but did not know why.

Can you give me one hint on 1a?
The answer is Umbrella for slow descent from the sky. Rapid is not the def. So I am confused.

1a is a thematic answer, hankir -
'rapid' is the def and it refers to the watery kind (usually pluralised as rapids) it's a 5 letter answer for the def but the wordplay gives the full entry (the other word for your 'umbrella' synonym) 'knock echoed' gives the first 3 letters of your answer followed by the usual 3 letters for 'one' with a wooden shed for the 'building' inside [the last 5 letters = the def and the first 4 letters is the thematic currency].

I was out all day.
Last 5 is Rapid.
First 4, a Turkish coin.
46a has pigeon and piglet around a coin.
So now to solve the second type. When something is taken out.

You've probably finished it, hankir - but, if you're having any doubts, most of the deletions occur at the starts or ends of answers (the exception is at 4d).
