There may be a misprint in the definition.

Preamble says that all answers for normal clues have to be disguised. Both 10a and 2d look normal but they go in "as is" with no disguise. Do I have those entries wrong?

The 'message', when you get it, requires a little bit of thought but it leads to a very good endgame (I think). You might see what's going on before you get to that point (when you see what letters are being adjusted) but it might make you smile even then.
