18 A/c :- Calling son a donkey perhaps upset mother and pa (8) ?E?A?H?R. It looks as if it must be METAPHOR (which happens to be an anagram of mother & pa), but I'm blowed how the definition comes from "Calling son a donkey perhaps".

I don't understand it. I've searched online, but haven't got anywhere.
If you say someone 'is' a donkey rather than 'is like' a donkey that's a metaphor. Can't see the connection with 'son' only that it is related to 'mother and pa'
I agree elliemay. "calling son a donkey" is an example of a metaphor. "Son" is only used to maintain the familial theme.
