Local Crossword

I am doing a local crossword, and am stuck for two answers, so any help would be appreciated

A. Explosive sound (3). I have ?O? This gives either POP or POW. Unless you know different….
B. Mini tuner (6). I have ?O?P?R. Not even sure what the setter means.

bookbinder. Thanks for your answers, but do you think that cooper is a bit too far removed from the clue given. I was looking at it as a ‘very small’ tuner rather than a car model from the mini stable that has been tuned! Mind you I have not come up with any sort of answer at all. If you put mini tuner into Google, it comes up with all sorts of guitar tuners…….., none of which fits the letters I have. So, once again thanks. If nobody comes up with anything better, I will go for cooper. I am sure that John Cooper would love to be included in a little local crossword!

sandyRoe. I think you are right. POW tends to be used in American comics! So I will go with Pop. Thanks.

bookbinder. I realised late last night that your answer - cooper - is very very right. John Cooper was the engineer who took the original mini and tuned it to become the Mini Cooper. Thanks for your help, and sorry I doubted you in the first place. Cheers.
