Those are all thematic clues, so it's hard to give hints.Your M is wrong in the first one. The answer to the clue and the entry both have 3, 7.

I've got 1d now.
The M came from 8d (an anagram) ..suppose letters have to change ..will rethink...
Thanks, PP. The entries are completely different words, they don't answer the clues- more describe them....22 Down started me off on the theme.
For 10a the answer is given in the clue by alternate letters from the R in Reek... (two words 3,7).
17d the answer is 8 letters - it ends with the usual 4 letters for 'promissory notes', ['subject to'] a 5 letter word for 'rejection' (in the unusual nounal sense, more usually it would be 'to reject') minus its final 'n'/note - def is 'forged' as in fake.
