RET[e] is the network in 16a - 'e' extra.

Ps. crafty little clue as 'Moxie' means 'Guts' [nerve]

...9d is obscure - you want a 4 letter word for 'further'/extra inside a typical 3 letter mountain (all upturned) and obviously you have some wrong letters in 16a, matakari.
