Sally,once is in France tackling head guys. (10) escapement is the only word which will fit.. can anyone explain or have a better answer? Thanks

Escapement (sally; outrush etc) - 'est' (Fr. "is", tackling; containing) 'cape (head) men (guys)'

Oh Lion King! I can only stand back and admire! Thank you. I would not have been able to work that out.
Surely deserves best answer, then!
...Except that sally doesn't mean escapement or vice versa. An escapement is a mechanism in pianos, old clocks and old typewriters.
the clue says 'once' so maybe it use to mean that
4. an act of escaping
5. archaic
a way of escape; outlet
escapement is an archaic word for an escape

Fair enough, thanks folks. My Chambers and Oxford don't make that connection. I can see escapement is an archaic word for escape but, in that sense of escape, I don't see it as a sally. It seems to be one of Tim Moorey's looser definitions.
