Solved a few, but am yet to completely fathom Jaques’s picture. Help

I don't know how to give you a clue without giving the answer for 15a, so I shall just say that it ens in "N" and it's second letter is a "G"

17 If a state leaves a union then it is S????ING from that union - the "sprinkling" is correct but in the form of for example sprinkling ????? on a lawn to fill in the bare patches = S???ING, but then insert a C to get "leaving"

clear to me and it was like going back to the movies! It's obvious that Jaques has achieved a veritable tour de force here. I am still at sea, though, with the range of his setting technique as a few clues continue to stump me. Hints for this final lot should help to put this one to rest, thank you!

I think the clues in your latest batch are comparable to some Spectator puzzles, but...
30 Take the 'h', hot, out of a five letter word for irritation, and you'll be left with a casual eating place.

1 D. Your have the first letter, one, add the 'close to rudder' (common in crosswords) and add a two-letter 'close to' as a verb, often used in puzzles. The answer will be Stern...

18 D Take the How out of the usual Arab chiefs and reverse it for 'gallery's top pictures). It's in Chambers.

The others are difficult to hint at because they involve obscurities, I'll give the answers if you want them, Matakari.

For 18d the def is where an art gallery has hung its highest pictures, (that should give you an idea for the common word you're looking for).

5d is a double def - 'wily old fox' (someone very cunning) is a FILE (and you can file a law suit). I see you guessed the answer anyway.

Now, my crosser with 25a has changed and confirmation for this answer would be appreciated with parsing:
