Struggling in the top right. I think 4d is holster but cannot get sandarach on African chief -r-rog-. Also 4d vav being over most of what follows requiring special case. Is it holster?. Any guidance appreciated.

4d Holster, yes - 'vac' = HOL(iday) + RE(s)T reversed (minus 's' for 'special') def 'case'.

...sorry - it's HOLS for 'vac' and RE(s)T comes from 'most of what follows' meaning a letter is removed (ie 'most of') from '(the) rest' (ie 'what follows') and 'over' means you reverse it. It's a bit messy as clues go.

The other one is more straightforward, but more obscure, perhaps - ARAROBA (a purgative yellow powder).

ARAR (is another word for 'sandarach') and OBA is the African chief'.
