Welcome to Title Builder Beta.

This small piece of kit is designed to make building your Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle question more effective. It should make finding your question easier for others and, the easier it is to find, the more likely someone is to answer it!

To build an easy to find question title simply select the paper and quiz, enter the quiz number if relevant and fill in the Publication Date. Once you’re happy click “Build Title” and the information should populate the Title field. Fill in the final required details of your question as you normally would, and click submit.

As this is a Beta we only have a limited number of papers and quizzes listed. If you think your favourite Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle should be listed here don’t hesitate to contact us.

Remember: You do not have to use the title builder - simply enter the title and question as you normally would and click submit!

Irritatingly, I didn't get round to starting this until last night, and then got stuck in the bottom left-hand corner because of 22Dn and failed to submit on time.

I empathise with Lie-in King about jewel being used as a homophone for duel, but that wasn't the cause of my undoing and subsequent irritation. Having solved 28A/c (LAY READER), I was looking at ????L for 22Dn (Prize fight is broadcast (5)), and almost immediately solved it as MEDAL (Prize) plus a homophone of same being MEDDLE, which Chambers confirmed as one of the meanings of FIGHT, albeit Shakespearean.

It never occurred to me that MEDAL could be wrong, so I was doomed.

In fairness to the setter, I really enjoyed the (rest of the) puzzle, as there were a lot of challenging (but eventually satisfying) clues.

My only query is with the wordplay of 1A/c :- On radio, Britain's leader clarified way to go (5) B?A?O. I understand the definition (B being the first letter of Britain and also being BRAVO in the phonetic alphabet), but how on earth does "clarified way to go" fit in? TIA.
