Many years ago on another forum I started a game I called CLUE CHAIN. The idea is that the setter poses an original home made clue which everybody is invited to solve. The poster who solves the clue first (hopefully identified by the setter) is then invited to post their own original clue. If anybody is interested in playing my clue is

Bear opening church? (7)

^^ Me too Canary or touching!

I'm thinking intimate,  too 😊

spot on, canary

stir server - inmate

with

appeal - it, up - ti

intimate - up close and personal

and so to bed...

Stir server..clever thinking! Night night 😁

probably Canary was first....

And there was me thinking server was a ladle!!!!!!!

Prison never entered my mind.  Goodnight too.😊

I think for that clue to work, there has to be something in ther clue that tells you to put 'inmate' round 'ti' - as it stands, 'inmate' is not with 'ti'

Maybe, Stir server about

OK, here goes (excuse the delay, I was making myself some soup).

Loses hard edges and barks when away; at home here ? (10)

Hi Canary, can we have a little clue please 😃

Hi Patsy. After all this time I suggest we abandon Canary's clue. Would you mind posting a new clue?

Cardinal admitted into sad French city (7)

Still thinking... 😁

Sorry, I've been out today.   It is a bit complex, much in the style of Cyclops in Private Eye.  But I had a lot of fun putting it together 😂

Here's the solution :-

Loses hard edges and barks when away; at home here ? (10)

hard edges = hd

Take hd (loses) away from and barks when

This leaves anbarkswen

away tells you its an anagram, so unravel anbarkswen to give answerbank (definition at home here)

Perhaps I should go  into hiding now [no that's not another clue, LOL]

I just KNEW it was Answerbank! Just couldn't parse it!  Good one ! 😆

Premier?

Patsy: Quite a coincidence that you've upper-cased KNEW.  One of my attempts included the anagram

KNEW A BARN'S

but I couldn't wrap it up. 😀  😀  😀  😀
