I'm looking for a disc type attachment for a standard electric drill. It is for applying and buffing faded paintwork on car using T-cut. I've tried Halfords and several smaller car accessory shops to no avail though they all now sell orbital car polishers.

Don't do it! You will have little control over the pad, and probably end up with swirls.
A better idea is to buy a dedicated polisher, which are available from about 15 quid, and have a dual action action, with a lambswool pad. Try Machine Mart.
Also try using a product called G3, much better than TCut, and I'm sure you don't need telling that a sunny day will make harder to do.
