A couple of weeks ago I had help from various ABers with a local church flower festival quiz
One of the clues 'wild on the mountainside' a flower 5 letters
I think it was crofter suggested oxlip I was doubtful and eventually settled for gorse. Have just received the answers for this one it was Thyme although can't quite fathom out. The only other one I had wrong 'looks cute on a tandem' song title 7 words correct answer first line not title I think but
why worry 257 was raised for church funds. Five people had just on wrong answer so there was a draw for winner

whoops - sorry kayakamina - and thanks again

original thread did not come up on my search
Guilty kayakamina? Do not think so - there were at least half a dozen people who agreed with you and oxlip is still a far better answer to the question than thyme - the only possible reason for the answer being the old song - The Wild Mountain Thyme - http://www.rampantscotland.com/songs/blsongs_t hyme.htm - but the compiler should have taken both oxlip and thyme to have been correct. Que sera, sera.

hello goldenfield and thanks for your interest. I do not know the lady compiler but several answers were Scotland orientated. As I didn't put either Thyme or Oxlip as my answer I don't know if Oxlip would have been accepted
No no - that is fair enough wendyl - It's just that sometimes compilers have an answer in mind and even if other answers are perfectly valid - as, in my opinion, is the case here - only the one answer is accepted. I hope that is not the case here i.e. one or more did not put oxlip as their one 'incorrect' answer and so lose out on being the winner - but perhaps that's just me being a little pedantic! Take care.
Thanks for the absolution kayakamina - Much appreciated. I remember the clue well and my feeling that "oxlip" did not seem to fit 100% , but then I couldn't come up with a convincing alternative. Many local quizzes seem to have at least one dodgy clue!

wendyl what did you have for the tandem clue and what was the correct answer? It looks like it should be Daisy - but the number of letters doesn't match!

Crofter
the question Looks cute on a tandem?
Answer I gave following advice here and google
'Daisy Bell (a bicycle made for two)'

compiler's answer
'Daisy Daisy give me you answer do'
wendyl The advice you were given appears sound. You did give the correct title to the song. The other five must have given the first line of the song (not the title). Strictly speaking they got TWO wrong and you got only ONE wrong answer. That makes you the outright winner!

Many ABers would already describe you as "a winner"!
