There has already been a bit of discussion about this .. on the whole I think speisades is preferred.

I have been persuaded (just) that speisades is the more likely. Which means that the other spelling is probably the school solution!

As I've said before, the Generalist is a Chambers-based crossword. In this case, Chambers lists just one spelling.
