On CH4, is anyone watching this?

It really makes you appreciate having a healthy, genetically perfect child.

What these children are going through is heartbreaking.

God yeah, im sat here sobbing my eyes out bob. I'm sorely tempted to go upstairs to cuddle Mini Boo. Its only cause she's snoring that I havent, lol.
I have it on as well, I know someone with a child with cerebral palsy (spelling?) These parents are so strong, but I suppose you have to be there's no choice in the matter. I really admire the woman with 5 children, one disabled and she is expecting another she seems so loving, a really good mother.
I'm not watching it Boo but have got in on record. My aunt gave birth to a perfectly healthy baby, but when she was 2 months old the measles virus went round and my cousin caught encephalitis. She was sooo ill, its amazing she made it. She was left blind after the attack but the had barbiturate fits which damaged her brain even more. She has massive frontal lobe brain damage, she cant speak, couldn't walk till she was 6 is deaf in one ear. Self harms, to the point that she actually killed one of her eyes totally so it is just shrinking and shrinking and changing the sahpe of her face. She 16 now and despite this is a very beautiful girl and full of love but when I had both my kids I didn't rest easy until they were at least 18 months old, my worries werent all the time but once in a while I would be overwrought with worry about whether they would be like her.

My God goodsy, again hearing something like that also makes me appreciate the perfectness (that a word?) of Mini Boo.

How does your aunt cope? The strength of the parents amaze me, i'm sure i'd be totally useless in that position.
you know what b00 she is the most amazing woman. She is always there for me and my boys. Always there for anyone who needs her.

Her eldest son is diabetic and the youngest has bad asthma. So she really has had her fair share of traumas. She also has an evil sister who lives next door ( I refuse to acknowledge she is my aunt) and she does all kinds of mean things to her eg my cousin loves swimming so she vandalised their pool when she was on holiday.

I dont know how she copes but she just does. I suppose you work with the cards you are dealt but the respite in this county is crap and she gets no help form social services. Just a lady once a week to help her with her housework for an hour.
Boo - if you ever had to cope with a severe disability, I think you'd be much stronger than you think. I've just watched Born To Be Different as well, and it IS heartbreaking. I also have a disabled child, but physically he's perfect. The trouble is, he has severe autism, & people can be so cruel to him. It's been a terrible struggle, often being kept up all night and being unable to enter his private world, but I love him with all my heart. Every child needs love, support & encouragement, & I gave up work (at great financial loss) to look after him. We have no money, but I know I've done the right thing.
Aww taperface I feel so sorry for anyone with a child who has any kind of disability. I had a baby that died when only half an hour old, she had massive brain damage due to inattention at birth it was 36 years ago but I still think about it now. She would have been severely disabled and I don't know how I would hae coped, but I suppose I would have, but I didn't get the chance.
