OK! I got all the answers ... but can someone tell me WHY the following answers?

10D: Tendency to ask questions about blatant lie (10) = PROPENSITY
6D: Cashed in first of bonds not needed in desirable conversion (8) = REALISED
7D: Ruling party starts to introduce National Service (3) = INS?

I cannot easily reconcile any of the clues with the answers !!! (or am I just being inordinately stupid for a Tuesday morning???)

6d "first of bonds not needed" ..remove "b" from desirable..to get anagram.. realised.

7 - the ruling party is 'the ins' - ie the people who have been voted 'in'. Cryptic ref is merely initial letters as you know.
